Nancy J. Lavelle, Ph.D.—Founder, President, and CEO
Total Education Solutions, Inc. (TES) is a privately held, full-service, multi-state company that provides special education management, specialized programs, and quality staffing solutions to local education agencies and public, charter, and private schools nationally and internationally. Dr. Lavelle brings to TES more than thirty years experience as the President of the nationally recognized, non-profit Institute for the Redesign of Learning, which she also founded. Dr. Lavelle received her Doctor of Philosophy in Psychological Studies in Education, with a specialization in Special Education, from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is a member of the Continuing Education faculty in the Department of Special Education at California State University, Los Angeles.
Dr. Lavelle is the author of “Taking Charge for Educators™” and "Taking Charge: A Life Planning Partnership with At-Risk Youth™" personal responsibility training programs and has conducted more than 200 workshops nationwide for parents, educators, and other professionals working with at-risk youth. She has served as a Review Panelist for the U.S. Department of Education National Exemplary School Recognition Program; the Council on American Private Education; as well as the Institute for At-Risk Infants, Children, Youth and Their Families; all located in Washington, D.C. Dr. Lavelle has been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children, Washington, D.C.; the California Association of Private Special Education Schools, Sacramento, California; Education 1st!, a Los Angeles-based entertainment industry group dedicated to improving the quality of education; and the Inside Edge Educational Foundation, Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Lavelle has also served on the Board of Directors, and is past-President, of the Education Industry Association, based in Washington, D.C. Her areas of professional expertise include: special education, personal responsibility training, school organization, strategic planning, staff development and training, teacher education, parent training, crisis intervention, self-determination, and advocacy.

Greg Golinski, M.B.A.--Controller
Greg Golinski joined TES in March of 2004. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California Polytechnic State University. With more than 18 years experience as a Controller and CFO, Golinski’s knowledge of business management, strategic planning, and leadership ability have been instrumental to TES' growth and success. Upon earning his degree, Golinski worked in the capacity of Controller and CFO for such companies as Americall Corporation and Waste Management, Inc. In 2005, Golinski earned his M.B.A. from Keller Graduate School of Management and has been promoted to the position of Controller.

Carolina Morgan joined TES in April of 2007. Since receiving her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, she has committed her career to the field of education. She has worked for several universities, where she gained extensive experience in areas such as international education, grant management, educational program creation and development, as well as diversity recruitment and graduate student admissions. In her current role, Morgan oversees an outstanding group of professionals who handle the processes of application, pre-screening/interview/evaluation, hiring, and retention of TES’ employees as well as marketing and university alliances.

Staci Hazlett, B.S.—Director, Human and Administrative Resources
Staci Hazlett joined TES in 1997 as part of the management team when the company was formed. In the summer of 1998, Hazlett was promoted to Director of Human and Administrative Resources. Prior to joining TES, Hazlett held a variety of roles, primarily in human resources, at the Institute for the Redesign of Learning, which she joined in 1990. Hazlett has effectively established a human resources department that not only manages the credentialing, licensing, and certification requirements of more than 800 employees, but also the regulatory and licensing applications required for providers of special education services in California, Michigan, and Ohio. As the HR Director, Hazlett’s primary focus is on employee benefits. Because of her efforts TES and IRL both offer excellent benefit packages, which enable them to be highly competitive employers in the special education field. Hazlett has a B.S. in Business Management. In addition, Hazlett is currently a member of the California Chamber of Commerce, PIHRA, and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Tom Gonzales, B.A. – IT Manager
Tom Gonzales joined TES in June of 2006 after funding and operating his own consulting business where he created and implemented information technology strategies. The 10 years he spent in this endeavor afforded Gonzales the expertise to deliver network designs and support strategies for small to Fortune 500 companies. Under his leadership and direction, Gonzales’ team of technology support specialists provides TES and IRL with robust, secure network infrastructure, computer applications and equipment, website design and maintenance, hardware and software needs, as well as telephone systems and equipment.
Under his leadership and in collaboration with various departments, Gonzales has managed and/or implemented vital systems such as Mass 500, Paychex, Welligent, ADP, and TES TotalView. Gonzales graduated from University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in business management and a minor in computer science. He has obtained certifications in the Cisco platform CCNA and CCDA, Microsoft MCSE 2000 and 2003, Exchange 5.0, and Novell CCNE 3X and 4X.

Rubin joined Total Education Solutions in September, 2007 as Managing Director, responsible for guiding and overseeing the non-profit Institute for the Redesign of Learning/Almansor Center. Rubin has been a social services administrator for more than twenty years serving children, adults, and families in need. Proud of being a people-oriented “systems guy,” Rubin enjoys designing, redesigning, and revamping programs and systems to maximize effectiveness for all concerned. An inveterate do-it -yourselfer, Rubin thrives on most challenges and will cheerily take on automotive, electronic, or home repairs with the same enthusiasm he puts into repairing or expanding existing human services. In his years as a director of mental health programs, an executive human services consultant, and other related director-level positions, Rubin has had responsibility for a wide range of mental health, rehabilitation, and educational programs. A licensed mental health professional, Rubin received a B.A. in Psychology and English from Williams College in Massachusetts and an M.S.W. from California State University, Long Beach.

Raul Martinez joined TES in January 2008, bringing with him more than 12 years of facility management experience. Prior to joining TES, Martinez worked as a seasoned operations manager at one of the more prestigious building maintenance firms specializing in all facets of facility management projects. There, Martinez was responsible for managing labor and equipment budgets in excess of $2 million and 250 direct/contracted personnel for Fortune 1,000 companies - some of the more notable clients were Federal Express, Dole World Headquarters, Warner Brothers, and J. Paul Getty Museum and Villa. Martinez recently achieved Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification and is continuing to develop TES' Corporate Sustainability Plan.

Andrew Rivera, B. A. --Manager, Career Development
Andrew Rivera joined Total Education Solutions in July of 2008. His experience as an agency and corporate recruiter in the human resources and financial administration fields has been instrumental to the continued success of the career development department. Earlier in his career, Rivera was a high school geometry and economics teacher as well as an athletic director for a Los Angeles Charter school. Rivera’s interest in both education and talent acquisition has made him an ideal fit for our organization. Rivera graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s degree in business/economics. He excelled as a collegiate student athlete; a passion he continues to pursue.
